Being the use of internet so normalized as it is nowadays, the security at the time of sharing our personal data with someone at the other side of the world is critical. Here is where cryptography takes part, created for the protection of our information.
We take one step forward on security when, thanks to the actual knowledge of quantum physics, we stop relying our privacy upon simple mathematical algorithms, and we trust in the absolute randomness that quantum physics brings to us.
In this document, we take a look at the actual situation of cryptography, check which of the properties of quantum physics are used and how, and we will compare both methods. In the practice part of our research, we experience ourselves the basics of the most simple quantum cryptography method, BB84, using laser properties.
